OUR STORY
Community Founded for the Common Good, serving Uncommon Quality
In January 2015, CommonWealth Coffeehouse & Bakery opened the front door of a completely renovated historic home at 118 Davis Court in Alamo Heights. CommonWealth can now be found at 4 different locations throughout the city, with a heart to serve the local community.
Our owners had a vision to create a place where the French artisan tradition of making bread and pastries could be experienced right here in San Antonio. In honor of this vision they brought Vincent Lacoste, a third generation baker directly from Bordeaux, France.
Vincent, who has a twin brother that is also an expert pâtissier, prides his reputation on his family’s tradition; the Lacoste own three bakeries back in France. Vince’s passion for his métier (profession) dates back to the years of his grandfather and father, for it was through them that the art of baking artisan breads and pastries passed.
Pairing our owners passion for French food and excellence, along with a genuine desire to promote local trade, CommonWealth proudly serves and supports the local community through engaging other local small businesses, artisans and nonprofit organizations. These things combined with our staff’s heart for serving the community make for a unique and unmatched coffee experience reflecting the heartbeat of our mission.
